Ms. “Mission Accomplished!” Napolitano: What did the Iceberg say to Titanic’s Deck Chairs? A:”The system worked!”

December 27th, 2009

IT WORKED, ALL RIGHT

for the terrorist.

But for the passengers, it was the Jasper Schuringa System that worked. It involves a civilian putting out fires…with his bare hands!

I see Doug Ross also thought of “Mission Accomplished”, and Ace also had the same “Titanic” idea, giving the System a good, solid B+:

Death Star Thermal Exhaust Port Defensive Grid? The system worked.

Hindenburg hydrogen-cell containment system? The system worked.

Delta House coordinated cheating strategy? The system worked.

Charlton “Bright-Eyes Talyor” Heston’s ability to avoid being in “a madhouse”? The system worked.

League of Nations? The system worked.

And Andy McCarthy is ahead of us all:

The people now in charge of our government believe Clinton-era counterterrorism was a successful model. They start from the premise that terrorism is a crime problem to be managed, not a war to be won. …

Here, no thanks to the government, the plane was not destroyed, and we won’t get to the bottom of the larger conspiracy (enabling the likes of Napolitano to say there’s no indication of a larger plot — much less one launched by an international jihadist enterprise) because the guy got to lawyer up rather than be treated like a combatant and subjected to lengthy interrogation. But the terrorist will be convicted at trial (this “case” tees up like a slam-dunk), so the administration will put it in the books as a success … just like the Clinton folks did after the ’93 WTC bombers and the embassy bombers were convicted. In their minds, litigation success equals national security success.

It is a dangerously absurd viewpoint, but it was clear during the campaign that it was Obama’s viewpoint. The American people — only seven years after 9/11 — elected him anyway.

The Time Machine System is working, too…it’s becoming Sept. 10, 2001 again!

Other people for whom the System is Working:

Terrorists: Napolitano says we can’t ban someone from flying just because they are on our watch list. But must we give them visas?

The Democrat executives of Fannie and Freddie:

“On Thursday, President Barack Obama unilaterally raised the $400 billion cap on emergency aid to the companies, which were heavily criticized for helping bring about the housing crisis.

Prior to the announcement by the White House, the Federal Housing Finance Agency approved $42 million in salaries and bonuses to the top 12 executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.”

Gitmo detainees: Obama has been freeing them left and right while Americans are focusing on the holidays.

Sen. John Kerry: He’s being sent to Iran in hopes of rescuing the regime, just like he did for the North Vietnamese.

Plannned Parentlessness: They reap a dollar-per-month-per-person Abortion Tax if SangerCare passes.

UPDATE: As steve in Tulsa notes here, Napolitano has outlawed the very “system” she says is working.

To prepare for his attack, the bomber got up to go the bathroom in the last hour of flight. And then he hid under a blanket. So Napolitano has banned getting up and blankets, rather than banning, say, PEOPLE ON A WATCH LIST.

That’s like trying to ban Hitler by outlawing bad mustaches and cheap watercolors. And it also would ban civilians from getting out of their seats to confront and subdue a bomber–the very “system” that worked!

This Self-Grading System is working…for those who work it.
