I’m From the Fifties and I’m Here to Help

WHEN I WAS A KID(TM),

the anti-war Left loved to bandy this phrase about, from Pres. Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Farewell Address:

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex.

But while they stopped there, Eisenhower went on:

Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades. In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.

… Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers. The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present — and is gravely to be regarded.

Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.

Why, it’s almost as if he were a proto-”climate-denier”. That’s a phrase meant to equate you with a Holocaust-denier. Except the Holocaust actually happened last century (just ask Ike!)…versus Global Warming, which is a guess about what will happen a century from now.

How do you “deny” a guess about the future?

In any event, Eisenhower makes a much better guesser about the future than Al Gore or Barack Obama:

We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow.

Well, back onto the internet, just in time for all the FUN!

Ya know, the whole AGW thing gets better and better ever freakin day. The Dhimmicrats are probably pissing themselves in private over this - this has the potential to be the Teapot Dome of our generation.

Public outrage is already out of the gates and starting to trample green politico hucksters in Australia, and rage is approaching white hot in the UK and on the continent. The IPCC chair is full defense mode, I doubt he realizes that he's about to go down in history as one of the biggest patsy scoundrels left holding the bag - ever.

Speaking of going down - once this gets to the point that even the Ostrich media can no longer ignore or cover it up, they'll probably give in to their baser instincts, smell the blood in the water, and participate in the savaging of the socialists in the US that have been pushing this scam along - the timing is just about right for this to become THE issue for 2010 - and a very, VERY big broom for sweeping a lot of odious excrement (incumbent Dhimms) out of Congress. Potential MAJOR shift in the power structure.

And then, the door will be opened to investigate things like, oh, ida know, the massive credit card fraud used by the current administration to finance their campaign, maybe?

Clinton was a swing and a miss - batters up - this one is goin OUT of the freakin PARK!
