Steyn has run across irrefutable evidence of a diseased progression that must be seen to be believed. I’ll restrict my excerpting to his final paragraph:
Anwar al-Awlaki and his chums have bet that such a society is too sick to survive. Watch the nothing-to-see-here media driveling on about pre-post-traumatic stress disorder like gibbering lunatics in a padded cell, and then think whether you’d really want to take that bet.
Not a chance. We’d do better to ponder whether Darwin’s theories on survival of the fittest might apply to civilizations as well as individual organisms — because if they do, this sick, septic society, as it goes blithely and stupidly along sowing the seeds of its own destruction, doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in Hell. And doesn’t deserve to.
