Dems broke it, Dems bought it, Dems own it

July 29th, 2009

Will Obama and the Democrat Socialists ever man up and take responsibility for the mess they’re making? Don’t be ridiculous; they’re Democrats, ferchrissakes:

In a TV commercial to be aired in Washington and on national cable, the party cites disapproving comments made about the $787 billion legislation by Sen’s Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Jon Kyl (Ariz.) and House members John Boehner (Oh.) and Eric Cantor (Va.)

The goal is to not only detail the benefits the stimulus opponents are seeing in their individual states, but to also lay the blame of the still-sputtering economy on the policies of the Bush administration.

“They supported the Bush policies that sank our economy into recession,” says the narrator in the TV ad. “They broke it – now they refuse to fix it.”

The radio commercials similarly tie the Republican leaders to Bush – citing the former president’s “disastrous economic policies” – while highlighting some of their hometown projects being funded by a measure they opposed.

It’d be funny if it weren’t so pathetic. Just as a reminder, here’s how well Commiecrat policies have “fixed it” so far:

And just as an added bonus, here’s one from me to the Democrat Socialist crooks, liars, and whining idiots who think anybody with a lick of sense is gonna be fooled by their constant “It’s all Bush’s fault!” refusal to accept responsibility for the miserable failure of their big-government, big-spending, big-taxing policies:

Go to hell. Go straight to hell. Do not pass Go, do not collect 2 trillion more dollars of taxpayer money to fund your outrageous, contra-Constitutional boondoggles. And above all, do NOT piss down my leg and tell me it’s raining, you feckless, gutless, duplicitous fuckwits.

Update! Via the Gunslinger, did I say feckless, gutless, duplicitous fuckwits? Why yes; yes, I did:

Facing the first real rough patch of his presidency, President Obama and his supporters are once again resorting to a tried-and-true tactic: attacking George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

In his White House press conference last week, Mr. Obama referred to the Bush era at least nine times, three times lamenting that he “inherited” a $1.3 trillion debt that has set back his administration’s efforts to fix the economy.

Democratic Party strategist Liz Chadderdon said the strategy of blaming the previous team has been effective.

“I think Bush-bashing has been alive and well since ‘07 and, since it keeps working, why not use it?” she said. “Voters have short memories. The administration needs to remind people that things were way worse over the last four years than in the last six months.”

Uh huh. I was going to go Googling around for the stats that show comparative unemployment rates, growth rates, deficits, et al, but it ain’t worth bothering about. The woman is a shameless hack, a liar who’ll say or do anything to consolidate and broaden government power — just like her masters at DemSoc HQ — and isn’t remotely worth taking the trouble over. We’ll see in 2010 just how many of us out there really think single-digit as opposed to double-digit unemployment; economic growth instead of contraction; a stock market at 13,000 rather than one that struggles to momentarily kiss 9000; a deficit that’s erupting like Vesuvius (RINO George certainly comes in for some blame there, I must say) to truly nightmarish levels; and a grasping, strangling federal Leviathan sliming its tentacles into the remotest corners of American life are really “worse.”

Updated update! Shorter, more honest Chadderdon: “You’re Stupid, So We’re Going to Blame Bush!” Slublog includes the numbers I didn’t bother with earlier, too.

This piece is going to give me a headache I fear. Just as blog-trolls resort to misdirection and obfuscation when their points are indefensible, now too is our President...

    Behold:

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jul/29/obama-still-cashing-in-on-bushs-economic-failings/print/

    First, a good point regarding the oh-so-sincere "Promise of Hope-N-Change";

As he took power, Mr. Obama promised a “new era of responsibility” that would transcend partisan politics. “For a guy who campaigned on taking responsibility and looking forward, he spends an awful lot of time pointing fingers and looking backward,” said former Bush deputy press secretary Tony Fratto, who has begun defending the previous administration.

    And then, the retort; one that I'm sure you'll recognize as bearing the hallmarks of The New Kind of Politics! that has come to pass in the Age of Obama;

Democratic Party strategist Liz Chadderdon said the strategy of blaming the previous team has been effective. ‘I think Bush-bashing has been alive and well since ‘07 and, since it keeps working, why not use it?‘ she said. ‘Voters have short memories. The administration needs to remind people that things were way worse over the last four years than in the last six months.’

And there my friends, is a demonstration of the level of intellectual honesty at work in the Democratic party…

So how about it? I say to my friends across the aisle...

Will they explain explain the wonders that are Obama's policies, or, you know, resort to the usual Chicago thugishness and political hackery..?

    I'm betting on the latter!

re: Bob & the article from the Wash Times:

‘I think Bush-bashing has been alive and well since ‘07 and, since it keeps working, why not use it? Voters have short memories.'

Shorter Chattermouth = "You voters are TEH STUPID!"

Throw The Bums Out in 2010!!!

I would just like to say that I love the graphic with Nancy as Mr. Moneybags. That's darn good.

I think Bush-bashing has been alive and well since ‘07
Short memory indeed. Bush-bashing has been alive and well since, oh, 1999.

    I like this statement
    Voters have short memories.
    A Kinsley-gaffe, that's 80% of their strategery.

The administration needs to remind people that things were way worse over the last four years than in the last six months.”
See? She's relying on short memories.

Of course, she's helped by one thing, the headlines for Bush's term were uniformly gloomy. If you read a story about record low unemployment, the headline bemoans that people need to offer high wages and search hard for employees.

In a story about low interest rates, we'll read about how banks can't make any money.

For 8 years they always found the dark lining to every silver cloud.

Eh, sooner or later Americans will wake up. The later they wake up the worse it'll be for everyone involved.
    At least it's hilarious.

I mean, Obama is so obviously a caricature of a Chicago-machine politician, it's been blatantly obvious and yet, we're seeing a rash of people going "Gee, he's not who I thought he was" and True Conservatives like David Brooks and Peggy Noonan telling us how he's the Real Incarnation of Ronald Reagan (Hosannas!).

PT Barnum is laughing his ass off.
