Time for another round…

July 26th, 2009

… of “is he lying, or just stupid?” This time our contestant is Greasy Joe Biden:

The care with which we are carrying out the provisions of the Recovery Act has led some people to ask whether we are moving too slowly. But the act was intended to provide steady support for our economy over an extended period — not a jolt that would last only a few months.

Except — oops oops oopsie! — that ain’t so, and even someone as thick as Greasy Joe knew it as recently as a month ago:

As recently as June, at a roundtable in New York, Biden called the Recovery Act “an initial big jolt to give the economy a real head start.”

In March, the vice president said ”the Recovery Act, as we call it, provides a necessary jolt to our economy to implement what we refer as ’shovel-ready’ projects.”

And in November, as a new White House in planning was assembling its new economic team, President-elect Barack Obama said: “The most important thing to recognize is that we have a consensus, which is pretty rare, between conservative economists and liberal economists, that we need a big stimulus package that will jolt the economy back into shape and that is focused on the 2.5 million jobs that I intend to create during the first part of my administration. We have to put people back to work.”

So. Lying, or just stupid? Remember, as always with the buffoons in this clown-car admin, there is a third option: both.

How about both lying and stupid. A winning combination.

I think to be lying he'd have to have some awareness of what he's saying. Much of the time Joe's mouth just seems to run independently of any higher brain function. It keeps reminding me of Senator Reid, a couple years back, claiming the perennial CA wildfires were the result of Global Warming. Later in the same interview, the reporter returned to that topic and asked for elaboration, and Reid flatly denied having said what he just said.

At the time I was dumbfounded by Reid's mendacity, but finally decided he was just too blithering flat out stupid to be held responsible for anything he said.

I'm sure Joe would have a ready explanation as to how you so egregiously misheard him, if you cared to drop by Katie's Diner.

I have to stick up for Joe here.

He's not lying, he's just so used to saying whatever pops into his idiotic, little mind that he just doesn't consider the truth or falsity of a statement, it's just what he feels he has to say to make himself look good.

Again, he's not so much worried about the "truth" as he is about always being right.
