AP bootlick reviews God-Emperor, decides he’s wonderfully God-Emperor-like
At long last, sir, have you no shame?
WASHINGTON — In soaring rhetoric, Barack Obama ran through his logic for closing the Guantanamo Bay prison, deliberately planting himself on the middle ground between his conservative critics — led by Dick Cheney — and those to the left who accuse the new president of failing to restore American justice for all.
All terrorists, that is.
Obama slid easily back into his role as constitutional scholar, gliding through a long, carefully reasoned brief in the rotunda of the storied National Archives on Thursday. One of his aims appeared to be diminishing Cheney’s message across town in a cramped-by-comparison conference hall at the conservative American Enterprise Institute.
By sputtering out his usual lame, nonsensical, Lefty terror-symp platitudes about how locking terrorists up magically creates more of them. Funny, isn’t it, how there was no shortage of them for the thirty or so years between Jimmy Carter’s invaluable assistance in creating the global Islamic radical movement and, umm, yesterday — decades in which we were attacked again and again and again, with no reference to Gitmo whatsoever. Because, y’know, it didn’t actually exist. Guess they knew it was coming. Highly clairvoyant, those Muslim terrorists.
Plans for Obama’s speech were made public only a week ago, several days after Cheney’s appearance was known.
Yeah. Undoubtedly because he knew how ineffective the haplessly evil Cheney has been at refuting Obama’s lies. Here, let me fix that sentence for you: “Obama’s appearance was hastily thrown together only days ago, in direct and desperate response to Cheney’s anticipated evisceration of the no-ball Messiah, which was scheduled weeks ago.”
In the company of original copies of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights…
All of which he was using for a floormat. Actually, though, this is just another lie.
…Obama stood firm behind his decision — announced on the second day of his presidency — to close the Guantanamo prison, a lockup reviled in the Muslim world and a drag on U.S. relations with many of its oldest allies.
Too bad even the liberals in Congress think it’s a bad idea. Too bad, also, that all Obama really intends to do is maintain those same “failed” Bush-Cheney policies (or worse) while prettying them up with names more palatable to his Left-wing-idiot disciples.
But, Obama repeated Thursday: “For over seven years, we have detained hundreds of people at Guantanamo. During that time, the system of military commissions that were in place at Guantanamo succeeded in convicting a grand total of three suspected terrorists. Let me repeat that: three convictions in over seven years.”
Convictions were never the point, you lying asshole. Locking implacable fanatics up and throwing away the key is. Which, y’know, seems to have worked with the ones we actually bothered to detain. The ones we let go…well, not so much.
While the sitting president and the former vice president each scored points in their sequential debate, Obama walked away without having given American lawmakers the plan they wanted.
Wow, check out that sterling example of objectivity! Sorry, folks, I have clearly been mistaken. There’s no bias in the liberal media.
There is a noisy backlash — mainly fueled by Republicans’ relentless criticism of Obama’s plans — against putting what are seen as dangerous terrorists in U.S. prisons.
Umm. Okay, I take back my previous statement. “What are seen as?” Care to name me anybody who doesn’t see dangerous terrorists as dangerous terrorists — aside from Lefty dullards who are doing everything they can to help them win anyway?
But that did not seem to be Obama’s top concern. He seemed more intent on placing himself between the Cheneyites and his critics on the left who are bitterly complaining the president is not strongly defending American legal protections.
For Geneva-violating illegal enemy combatants who are in no way entitled to them, and who in fact see them as a potential weakness to be exploited.
“On one side of the spectrum, there are those who make little allowance for the unique challenges posed by terrorism, and who would almost never put national security over transparency,” Obama said in a pointed return of fire toward those to his left.
And on the other side, there are those who make little allowance for the unique challenges posed by terrorism, and who would almost never put national security over anything at all, including their own cheap, grasping political ambitions and lust for power (oops — that would be the same side.)
Shorter, way more accurate version of this Old Media knob-job: Obama is a lying, megalomaniacal narcissist, and his devotees in the media are wretched lickspittles whose suck-butt sycophancy has resulted in intensely distorted perception, judgment, and intelligence. They are as despicable as he is dangerous. As one of the commenters says: “This isn’t analysis. It’s fellatio.”
