Congratulations, American Legion!
OBAMA WON’T BILL SOLDIERS FOR THEIR WOUNDS
Thanks to the courageous leaders of the American Legion, president Barack Obama was scared off of his plan to squeeze money out of wounded veterans by the bad publicity.
Could he possibly not understand that insurance companies will pass these costs on to soldiers? This is a Blood Tax, an additional fee for serving one’s country. If this government won’t keep faith with those who bled for it, it certainly won’t keep faith with you or me.
It’s so malign, bone-headed and counter-productive, you almost have to wonder if it is meant to discourage military volunteers. If it isn’t, it might as well be.
“It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan,” said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. “He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.”
“President Obama listened to the genuine concerns expressed by the veteran service organizations regarding the option of billing service-connected injuries to veterans’ insurance companies,” said Pelosi. “Based on the respect President Obama has for veterans and the principle concerns of our veteran leaders, the president made the decision that combat wounds should not be billed through their insurance policies.”
president Obama didn’t listen. He polled. And his polling revealed that this polled off the charts negative. That’s because the first lady was wrong:
“I think I was like most Americans–pretty oblivious to the life of military families. Sort of taking it for granted.”
“Most Americans” are NOT oblivious to military families–they ARE military families, or know one. Perhaps the Americans in the Obamas circle take soldiers for granted–but not “most” Americans.
Congratulations again to the Legion, who did the job this American administration doesn’t want to do unless absolutely forced–defending the Defenders.
UPDATE: I see Mike has also addressed this below–good!
