See no evil

February 19th, 2009

Thank goodness we don’t have enemies anymore, and have defanged the former Axis of Evil by wishing it away with HopeyChangey happytalk:

Syria has been conducting extensive construction work on a chemical weapons facility in the country’s northwest, satellite images obtained by the defense analyst group Jane’s reveal. The images of a chemical weapons facility identified as al-Safir were taken by several commercial sources from 2005 to 2008, the analyst group said. Imagery obtained by DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-1 satellite shows that extensive construction has taken place at the facility, as well as at an adjacent missile base, the group wrote. In addition, the images showed that the site contained a number of the “defining features of a chemical weapons facility.”

Omri excerpts this, from a story on an appeasement-minded Congressional delegation’s butt-suck approach to dealing with terrorist states:

Barack Obama, the new US president, has announced his intention to talk to states previously seen as hostile.

…before asking the obvious question:

Syria isn’t seen as hostile any more? They’re building a chemical weapons plant, importing cutting-edge missiles from Russia and Iran, and developing annihilationist school curricula – but they’re not seen as hostile? Really?

Well, of course not. Blind fools rarely see much of anything at all, you know.

And speaking of blind fools…

US Senator John Kerry on Thursday made a rare visit to the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, but stressed this did not reflect a change of policy towards the territory’s Islamist rulers listed by Washington as a terror group.

Talking to a Palestinian lawyer amid the dust and rubble, Kerry came to the defence of Israel for responding to almost daily rocket attacks by Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups.

“Your political leadership needs to understand that any nation that has rockets coming into it over many years, threatening its citizens, is going to respond,” Kerry told Shar Habeel al-Zaim.

Yep. Whereupon they’ll be denounced for their “disproportiate response” immediately, by right-thinking progressivist Jew-haters everywhere.

You know we’re really chasing our tails in an upside-down world when the supposedly “hard line” against genocidal terrorists is the one taken by John friggin’ Kerry.

We are through the looking-glass when John Kerry makes sense.

Syria has always been anti-Israel and Israel has always taken care of itself. What should the U.S do about Syria, liberate it?

You're absolutely right, Sean. We should do nothing at all to discomfit Syria, or any other state that props up terrorist groups. "Connecting the dots" is for stupid neocons and evil Jooooos, right? After all, what'd Hezbollah ever do to us, anyway?
