On a mission from God

You will all become one with the Oborg:

Reporting from Washington — As Barack Obama builds his administration and prepares to take office next week, his political team is quietly planning for a nationwide hiring binge that would marshal an army of full-time organizers to press the new president’s agenda and lay the foundation for his reelection.

The organization, known internally as “Barack Obama 2.0,” is being designed to sustain a grass-roots network of millions that was mobilized last year to elect Obama and now is widely considered the country’s most potent political machine.

Organizers and even Republicans say the scope of this permanent campaign structure is unprecedented for a president. People familiar with the plan say Obama’s team would use the network in part to pressure lawmakers — particularly wavering Democrats — to help him pass complex legislation on the economy, healthcare and energy.

Gee, just what we needed: ACORN goes federal. You’re gonna get all the HopenChange you can stomach, folks, and you damned well better like it, too. The Obamajugend will see to it. Remember, dissent is the highest form of patriotism only when a non-communist admin is running things. The rest of the time, it’s high treason, and will be treated as such. Geraghty says:

The proposal is now starting to sound like what happens when project meetings get out of control. “They’ll help elect Democrats to Congress! And they’ll pressure wavering lawmakers! And, hey, what if we promised they’ll mobilize in natural disasters! And they could fight crime! And they’ll have special uniforms!”

Sure enough. And the shirts will be brown, too. Allahpundit makes an excellent point on how this differs from politics as usual, and why it ought to scare the hell out of any remaining bitterclingy holdouts with even minimal regard for American Constitutional government:

What fascinates me is his faith that his supporters, almost all of whom are Democrats, can be counted on to side with him on policy against…other Democrats. There’s no reason in principle to believe that’s true — Obamites logically should prefer his position on economic recovery to McCain’s, but to Chris Dodd’s or Barney Frank’s? — but it’s perfectly sensible if you view Obamamania as a cult of personality with The One as the object in whom all trust is reposed.

And a cult of personality is exactly what it was from the beginning. As has been said many times, the Obamadrones weren’t (s)electing a P(ee)resident; they were anointing a Savior.

Resistance is futile. Also heretical.
