Parting shot
One more link before I get outta here for the day: Mike Totten, on the idiotic liberal insistence on a “proportionate” Israeli response to non-stop Hamas terrorism. I do think he’s wrong about this part, though:
The “disproportionate response” crowd doesn’t seem to mind that Israel struck back at Hamas per se.
Ah, but that’s exactly what they do mind. See, they despise violence and war — except when violence is committed and war is made by someone they perceive as a victim of some sort of “oppression.” Then it’s heroic — an unqualified good thing, and absolutely necessary and morally correct, no matter how brutal and vicious. The important thing for them isn’t the facts as they exist; it’s their emotional response to a perceived injustice.
They can rationalize anything at all, just so long as their existing prejudices aren’t disturbed. All part of being reflective, intellectually sophisticated, and nuanced, y’know. (Yes, I do know Mike’s being a bit tongue in cheek about this, by the way.)
