David Harsanyi doesn’t trust you people, and neither do I:

Unlike many of my more tolerant fellow citizens, I possess no confidence in the ability of the American electorate to make sensible decisions. I have reached this conclusion based on an incontrovertible truth: You people will believe anything.

This last farce of an election would seem to demonstrate that sad truth beyond all possible argument.

    And it is no wonder that Ponzi schemes remain successful. Work-at-home schemes, cults of all stripes, miracle diets, secret ingredients, revised history, worshiping a meteorite, and a thousand other examples. We are all fools.

    My state is currently dragging through a vote recount, because half the electorate thinks Stuart Smalley would make a good statesman.
