The feel-good story of the year
Know what’s so delicious about this story? The hilarious idea of the endless outraged op-eds we’d be seeing all across the land if A) this bona fide American hero had been Sarah Palin, and B) he’d been killing turkeys instead of Moozie dirtbags. As it is, you know as well as I do that they won’t utter so much as a shocked, appalled syllable:
“The biggest thing to take from that day is what Marines can accomplish when they’re given the opportunity to fight,” the sniper said. “A small group of Marines met a numerically superior force and embarrassed them in their own backyard. The insurgents told the townspeople that they were stronger than the Americans, and that day we showed them they were wrong.”
During the battle, the designated marksman single handedly thwarted a company-sized enemy RPG and machinegun ambush by reportedly killing 20 enemy fighters with his devastatingly accurate precision fire. He selflessly exposed himself time and again to intense enemy fire during a critical point in the eight-hour battle for Shewan in order to kill any enemy combatants who attempted to engage or maneuver on the Marines in the kill zone. What made his actions even more impressive was the fact that he didn’t miss any shots, despite the enemies’ rounds impacting within a foot of his fighting position.
“I was in my own little world,” the young corporal said. “I wasn’t even aware of a lot of the rounds impacting near my position, because I was concentrating so hard on making sure my rounds were on target.”
After calling for close-air support, the small group of Marines pushed forward and broke the enemies’ spirit as many of them dropped their weapons and fled the battlefield. At the end of the battle, the Marines had reduced an enemy stronghold, killed more than 50 insurgents and wounded several more.
“I didn’t realize how many bad guys there were until we had broken through the enemies’ lines and forced them to retreat. It was roughly 250 insurgents against 30 of us,” the corporal said. “It was a good day for the Marine Corps. We killed a lot of bad guys, and none of our guys were seriously injured.”
Semper. Fucking. Fi. Make a movie about this guy, Hollywood pantywaists. When the Marines win, so does America. That part of it that ain’t handwringing Obama-fellating commie terrorist symps, I mean. All of whom can shove “God damn America!” right up their goddamned liberal asses sideways, this very fucking minute, and from now on. Caps respectfully doffed to the corporal, from every one of us here — and a binding promise to never, ever let this fine young man pay for a drink in my presence.
You’re goddamned right the boldface is mine.

Update! I’m talking to you, douchewad.

As for Olby & Company, if we hear anything at all from them, it'll be a scathing condemnation of the Bushitler military for having brainwashed this poor, impressionable young man so thoroughly he no longer considers his own safety.
Why, I'll bet those incoming rounds weren't even properly labeled with hazard warnings or notations of potential allergen content.
Apparently - going far out of my way to simply imagine what you might mean if you were sane and could write coherently - you fantasize that decent, normal, Constitution-respecting Americans would somehow object to the events reported in the story. I can tell you we don't.
Many of us object to the war itself, the false and manipulative way it was ginned up, the corruption that permeates it and its instigators, and its ruinous consequences for Iraq, America, and so many families both Iraqi and American. But that is very different from wishing harm to the people caught up in it, or imagining they shouldn't defend themselves, even against enemies they had no reason to seek out in the first place. It is obvious these Marines conducted themselves with exemplary skill and courage; anyone would be glad to acknowledge it, though many of us - not least many of their families, I imagine - would have wished they had not had to. But the injustice of the war and the depravity of its authors are not the fault of those ordered to fight it, and do not detract from their accomplishments in doing so.
You see, decent (and, I have to emphasize again, mentally balanced) people can distinguish between a disastrous policy decreed by chickenhawk war criminals and the people tasked with implementing it at the risk of their lives and with no authority to refuse or object. Seemingly, you cannot even distinguish between the people who object to such policies and and entire grab-bag of (largely mythical) enemies of completely disparate religious and political ideologies, identities, or even historical eras. (Hint: "commie symps" are not exactly the in thing this season.) Somehow you work yourself up into a tantrum of fantasy violence against people you don't know, who mostly don't exist, because of things they didn't say which don't correspond to the way most of them (the ones who might actually exist) actually feel or talk.
That's . . . odd.
Sue your reading teacher. This happened in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan. Remember Afghanistan? That's the "good war" you guys are forever promoting as a way to get us to take resources out of Iraq so we could lose there.
Now that we've won in Iraq, it's time to start bumming against the effort in Afghanistan.
Check your e-mail. The instructions were supposed to have been sent out on V-I Day. Afghanistan is now the wrong war at the wrong time in the wrong place, not to mention genocidal and illegal.
Everything that went before which contradicts this Did Not Happen.
Clear, now?
Then comes the hoary, feeble old "chickenhawk" canard. And I knew it was just another self-righteous idiot.
Go suck the barbed cock of Bill Ayers, Kevin. Hey, didja notice we won Iraq already, asshole? I know how much anguish and distress that must cause you, but it's so. Try looking anyplace but your usual Obamedia propaganda outlets for the story. Or if you can find a soldier like the Marine mentioned in the post, one that you can actually borrow the balls to speak to without reflexively spitting on, bursting into tears, and running away in terror from, ask him or her about it.
Now go get busy trying to ensure we lose in Afghanistan before we crush your dreams there too, you tool.
“Many of us object to the war itself, the false and manipulative way it was ginned up, the corruption that permeates it and its instigators, and its ruinous consequences for Iraq, America, and so many families both Iraqi and American”
So to be a Bush-hating, Palin-despising, anti-Iraq-war liberal, do you also have to be an ignorant unable to read moron to not get this?
This battle, moron, took place in Afghanistan, hint Shewan is in Afghanistan, not Iraq.
Perhaps you need to learn how to read a map? Opps do you know what a map is?
Marines’ heroic actions at Shewan leave more than 50 insurgents dead, several wounded
11/16/2008 By Cpl. James M. Mercure , 2nd Battalion (2/7)
FARAH PROVINCE, Afghanistan —In the city of Shewan, approximately 250 insurgents ambushed 30 Marines and paid a heavy price for it.
Ya got the last part right.
“You see, decent (and, I have to emphasize again, mentally balanced) people can distinguish between a disastrous policy decreed by chickenhawk war criminals”
Yet you can’t distinguish tween Iraq and Afghanistan.
That's . . . odd.
“Seemingly, you cannot even distinguish between the people who object to such policies and and entire grab-bag of (largely mythical) enemies of completely disparate religious and political ideologies, identities, or even historical eras. (Hint: "commie symps" are not exactly the in thing this season.)”
If we take you at your word then you must be a supporter of Bin Laden, yes?
Apparently you can’t distinguish tween Taliban, AQ, Iraq and Afghanistan.
That's . . . odd.
“Somehow you workyourself up into a tantrum of fantasy violence against people you don't know, who mostly don't exist, because of things they didn't say which don't correspond to the way most of them (the ones who might actually exist) actually feel or talk.”
Speaking of “tantrum of fantasy” “against people you don't know”
Nope, not going there too simple.
God BLESS President Bush and our military for refusing to allow the IslamObots to turn Iraq into Vietnam Part Deux. (and bowhowdy they tried hard)
This is not to assume I denigrate the war in Vietnam. There was a very good and noble reason (historically proved) to be in Vietnam, and all the whining by Kerry-ites in the world doesn't change that.
The LEFT let our uniformed brothers and sisters down and their blood, sweat and tears are upon the shoulders of the LEFT. (all politicians included in that statement, btw)
NOTE: i've seen more statements by the Iraqis wanting US troops to stick around for a while since BHO became president-elect than in the entire war. odd.
