Betrayed

November 18th, 2008

Well, you knew this was coming, right?

What:
H.R. 6257: Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008
To reinstate the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act.

Now guess who’s gone and introduced the heinous piece of shit. Go on, guess.

As Duane says:

These five supposed Republican are nothing more than jackasses in elephant’s clothing. Rep. Mark Kirk has introduced a bill, H.R. 6257: Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008, which would “reinstate the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act.” The bill has been co-sponsored by the other four jackasses listed above. All of them claim to be Republicans.

All of them need to leave the party.

Seriously.

Go.

We don’t need your kind anymore. It is this kind of stuff that lost the Republican majority in Congress. No, not this particular issue, but the failure to adhere to Republican values in general. If you want to behave like a gun-grabbing Democrat, go sit on their side. It is better that the Republicans be in the minority, but true to conservative values than to be in the majority with no clear values at all.

A. Fucking. Men. Ragnar adds:

With all due respect to those who are prepared to sing “Kumbaya” with the left-wing Republicans until there is no more Republic left to save, I have to agree with Rep. Paul Ryan that the Republican Party needs to be flushed out with a fire hose.

I’ll pile on a bit myself: there is NO respect due to either these Constitution-trampling cocksuckers or their desperate enablers. They need to be driven out of the GOP with extreme prejudice — or freedom-loving Americans need to recognize at last that the Republican Party is simply no place in which any conservative or small-L libertarian ought to be wasting a moment’s time. Period. You want to be Democrats, go be Democrats.

At the very least, you ought to reach deep down into whatever smidgen of soul you haven’t sold off already and rediscover some meager scintilla of integrity — enough to stiffen your all-too-pliant spine for an open and honest declaration of what you really are: either a fucking statist, or a wormy devotee of power for its own sake, for whom no principle is without a price tag. It’s one or the other; either you’re an outright enemy of American liberty, or you’re a double-dealing coward who would sell us out to those who at least have the guts to admit they are. Snuffle about in the Left shitpile for any small truffle of power they’ll deign to let you hoover up. May your chains rest lightly upon you, and all the rest of it.

Update! From our comrades at the People’s Cube, it’s…it’s…it’s a major award: the “Order of Republican Moderation!”

The recent election has left the GOP sharply divided. As caring and compassionate progressives, it is our duty to help their two fighting factions destroy each other as soon as possible. When the Republicans were in power we successfully manipulated their infighting with our planned long-term strategy. But now that the GOP is in shambles, we must quickly find a way to manipulate their rebuilding effort, making sure that the Moderate Republicans prevail over the Extreme Republicans. Once all conservatives are removed, the GOP will be nothing more than a puppet, kept only for the appearance of a two-party system.

Go see who won, whydont’cha. And the accompanying graphic is absolutely priceless:

Extreme Home Makeover: sometimes the old structure just can't accommodate the needs, or is beyond repair, and they mow it down.

I am no longer afraid of the screamers who say if we divide our Party, it'll doom us. Well how about the fact that we've aborted our party for political expediency?

    Nothing left to lose.

Look at the bright side, at least this will dispose of those numerous legally-acquired and -owned assault weapons used in crimes throughout the nation by law-abiding citizens.

I mean hell, after the last ban, crimes committed with such firearms fell to nearly zero, right?

    ...right?

Why do you think gun and ammunition sales are off the charts? People know deep down that this in-coming administration wants to ban guns or make it so difficult to own one that people are now rushing out to buy like crazy.

Barry and da boys are anti-gun through and through. My biggest fear has turned to absolute terror with this new Congress.

It's funny you wrote this piece today. I have almost the same here:

Well, apotheosis, considering that such crimes were already at zero to start...

But Randy, wouldn't that imply that our government was passing a law which would only deprive law-abiding gun owners of their legally-purchased and -owned firearms?

Why would the government do that, don't they love us? :(
