Why bother?

September 12th, 2008

Didn’t watch the Palin interview, but it seems that he tried to trip her up by Dowdifying a quote and then leaning in and going all schoolmarmish — “Exact words, sweetie, exact words” — which his doctored quote of course wasn’t. And when called on it — which for some reason DKosMedia still hasn’t learned to expect, even though they’ve had at least four years now of getting their noses rubbed in it and their asses tossed out into the backyard when they crap on the carpet — they just try to disappear the part that makes Gibson look like the typical biased hack he always has been. That memory hole must be getting close to full by now.

I still just don’t see much reason for the McCain/Palin campaign to placate whining Nutrootsers like Sullivan by subjecting herself to partisan attacks from underhanded propagandists just because DKosMedia used to be able to fool us all into thinking of them as “fair.” People who still blindly believe anything that comes from their lying yaps are never, ever going to vote for her anyway. DKosMedia isn’t the only game in town anymore; in fact, with every passing day they bring themselves closer to being wholly irrelevant. The DKosMedia is not acting in good faith; they simply have no intention of presenting any Republican in a fair and honest way, and they ought to pay a price for it. That price is measured in access, and as Treacher said, they haven’t earned the right to any. To hell with them.

Update! More dishonest “journalism” flagged by Maguire. They won’t stop, because they know what’s at stake. I see no reason to further indulge the conceit that they actually matter, or play into their hands by allowing them to continue in the role of gatekeepers — The Deciders, as Ace always says — that they’ve arrogated unto themselves.

Updated update! Stupid or malicious? They’re hardly mutually exclusive, after all. My vote: stupid, AND malicious, AND dishonest, AND self-defeating, since the fog generated by their false claims to objectivity has been rent, and now drifts about the landscape in pitiful tatters that are no longer murky enough to obscure the truth.

I don't know about 'placating', but stringing them along until the hook is set seems to be about right.
