The Elitism Charge. Charge!!!!!!!

The Captain boils down the appeal of McCain/Palin to a single sentence that seems about as correct as anything I’ve read these last few days.

…that’s why McCain can make the elitist argument against Obama, and perhaps that’s true in terms of credibility.  However, the real reason it sticks is because Obama and his allies want to govern us as though we were idiots, and McCain and Palin appear more likely to treat us as adults.

Read it all, but that last sentence really cuts to the core of the issue.

This why the left is absolutely panicked over McCain. The choice of Palin as VP even more clearly signals that the McCain ticket is not elitist and the Obama ticket is.  To the left, if the rubes wise up and see this, then they won’t have power, either the moral suasion version, or the real “hard” power they crave, and that whole house of liberal mush which passes for a governing philosophy comes tumbling down.

    Obama wants to govern, McCain wants to lead.

    Right after the Bush triumph over Kerry I saw a Volvo-driving choad wearing a T-shirt that said is plain as you'll ever find: "Never underestmate the damage done by stupid people in great numbers."

    We're smart enough not to drive Volvos.
