The payoff

Maybe we ought to start referring to the MSM as Dumb Media instead:

A week ago, most Americans had never heard of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Now, following a Vice Presidential acceptance speech viewed live by more than 40 million people, Palin is viewed favorably by 58% of American voters. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 37% hold an unfavorable view of the self-described hockey mom.

The figures include 40% with a Very Favorable opinion of Palin and 18% with a Very Unfavorable view (full demographic crosstabs are available for Premium Members). Before her acceptance speech, Palin was viewed favorably by 52%. A week ago, 67% had never heard of her.

The new data also shows significant increases in the number who say McCain made the right choice and the number who say Palin is ready to be President. Generally, John McCain’s choice of Palin earns slightly better reviews than Barack Obama’s choice of Joe Biden.

Perhaps most stunning is the fact that Palin’s favorable ratings are now a point higher than either man at the top of the Presidential tickets this year. As of Friday morning, Obama and McCain are each viewed favorably by 57% of voters. Biden is viewed favorably by 48%.

Nice work, mental giants! And: thanks!

They’re so completely full of themselves, they never even dreamed how their vicious, petty, partisan assault on behalf of the Lamb of Chicago was going to be perceived by real Americans. I can’t recollect ever being more pleased at seeing a gaggle of self-important blowhards tripping over their own dicks. Congrats to every Obama-fellating one of them, and most especially the braying jackass Olbermann, who has achieved mightily indeed in destroying what little credibility his malodorous little corner of Dumb Media ever had. Special mention, too, to Roger Simon (no, not that one), whose whining invective (mentioned here yesterday) set a new standard for sniveling, bitter defense of an indefensible sense of entitlement.

Again: Just desserts, baby. Taste them.

Update! Another credibility-killer:

I took the shuttle bus back to Minneapolis, and I overheard a convention organizer named Phil telling a convention delegate that the protesters on Wednesday night got through because of media credentials that were traced back to MSNBC (he told her that each credential has an individual bar code for each convention invitee). They suspect MSNBC this time as well.

If this turns out to be true, MSNBC ought to be prosecuted to the fullest extent the law allows and denied credentials for any future Republican event, and we in the New Media ought to be shouting it from the rooftops from now till doomsday. And though it may seem likely to some, speaking for myself, I don’t know that I’d have trouble believing anything at all of them after what we’ve seen the last couple of weeks.

I'm thinking of the MSM now, self-destructive as they seem to be, as the kamikaze media.
