There are Totalitarian Communists. And then, everybody else.
That group of “everybody else”? Those are Americans.

There is nothing American about Totalitarian Communism.
Never has been. Never will be.
You aren’t going to carve out enclaves of “Free America”. Because it means you’d have to cede refuges for totalitarian communism somewhere else, and nearby. Like that would ever work, once in human history. How did that go in Korea? Vietnam? Laos? Cambodia? Cuba? Venezuela? Hungary? Czechoslovakia? Poland? And countless other places? They’re never satisfied with less than everything, and once they’ve got that, they smash it to pieces while gorging at the trough themselves, and devil take everyone else. It always ends in a pyramid of human skulls, every damned time it’s tried. Fuck that idea, sideways, with a dull rusty chainsaw.
You aren’t going to pick the peas, carrots, and scrambled egg out of the fried rice, and divvy up neat little enclaves.
It’s not possible.
It’s not practical.
And no one could ever do it, in a million years.
And even if you magically could, where in hell do you think you’d put them?? No one else wants them, here nor anywhere else. You might could palm them off on Cuba, but only if they can swim there.
The only thing that will work EVER, is going to be bog-simple:
One side is going to be alive within US territory afterwards. One side is not.
That’s IT.
That’s what “existential” means.
One side is going to exist.
The other side is going to cease to exist.
If anybody is still hazy on the concept, I invite you to discuss what this looks like with the Carthaginians. Shout loud: Tunisia is a long ways off, and it’s hard to hear with six feet of dirt over your bones.
So make your decision whether you’re going to be the Romans, or the Carthaginians, in the next such struggle. It’s coming at you like a freight train, and there’s no third option if you plan to live in the U.S.
I’d love to be able to say he’s wrong, but I can’t. Because, y’know, he isn’t. The above post might be considered as furtherance of an earlier full-throttle burst of high-speed, low-drag reality, to wit:

The coming conflict is going to be street-to-street, house-to-house, floor-to-floor, and in some families, room-to-room. Stop kidding yourselves, and wrap your heads around that reality.
The only way this can be carried out, is to win it all back. If that means we carry on afterwards with half the population – or more – gone forever, so be it.
This isn’t just going to get uglier than you imagine before it’s over.

The reason I push Soft Secession Non-Compliance and even Hard Secession is only because I think that will force their hand towards violence that couldn’t be ignored.
How their violence is ignored now is beyond comprehension, but here we are. Still waiting for a critical mass of Americans that see the inevitable coming.
The problem, as I see it, with trying to get along, perhaps as two countries, is the bifurcated nature of all the territories in the USA. It’s not a north/South divide, or east/west. It’s basically cities over a certain size Vs the rest of the country. There’s simply no way short of all of them going to one area and leaving the rest to us. I’m willing to cede a state or three, but that leaves the 40% of the state residents fucked. Then there is the real problem, give them an inch, a state, and they’ll be back for more. So, no. They can go to Cuba or Venezuela or go to hell. Short of that, death is fine. I’m in for outlawing all marxist, socialist, and communist programs constitutionally. No welfare, no more social security beyond meeting the current obligations. No medicare beyond meeting the current obligations. Get rid of it all. No workers comp. You want that, buy an insurance policy. Nothing, nada, zilch. No free health insurance because you spent your money on tennis shoes with MJ on the side.
Eh, let Communist America be a non-contiguous nation, urban blighted dots throughout Real America. With walls surrounding the dots, of course. Most of the Communist enclaves are coastal and some of the rest have airports so they will probably be able to get food shipped in. Water might be a problem, but American Communists overwhelmingly support environmentalism and reduced consumption so they may be able to recycle their own waste water and supplement with rainfall. They can arrange to pay Real America for electricity. And, of course, if things go wrong then in a year or two the blighted area can be bulldozed and turned back into Real American land.
Well, that’s what I used to think. Then I decided it’s not going to work, so hell no.
The problem is the National Debt. It’s become an even worse problem as well.
Who gets to keep the US$ is the first question. Then how does the existing debt get apportioned between the two new countries?
This divorce will be acrimonious at every level.
I’ve already decided on that. They get the debt, we get the dollar. The get the ACLU, we get the nukes.

The legislature has capitulated? I don’t think so. They are part of the problem. They could stop the governor by passing legislation countering what he does. They may not have the votes to override a veto since they need a handful of democraps, but they might try,
I think it is inevitable that the existing debt gets repudiated/defaulted. Or perhaps it technically gets “paid back” in dollars sufficient to buy approximately one small cup of coffee. In any case, creditors (aka “suckers”) get screwed. No other outcome is possible at this point, or really has been possible for at least 30+ years.
As for the dollar, I suspect it disappears along with the country known as the USA. Without the implied threat of the US military to back it up, it will be worthless and no one will take it in exchange for actual goods.
Any entities that arise from the smoking rubble of the former USA will be new nations, with new names and new currencies. There will not be a remnant or rump USA, in large part to avoid being left holding the existing debt.
Ultimately that probably happens.
What we are talking about here is the possibility of an amicable divorce.
Money and Debt are one of the many stumbling blocks to an amicable divorce.
The biggest one is the fact that Marxists can never just Leave You Alone. They have to make running EVERYONE’S LIVES their goal. They are as likely to just walk away peaceably as it is likely I will win a billion in Vegas.
