Spreading the Collusion Delusion blame

Plenty of it to go around.

It wasn’t just the entire American media infrastructure—every broadcast network, cable news outlet, opinion page, political website, blue-checked social media account, washed-up D.C. pundit, unhinged MSNBC host, irrelevant Bush hanger-on, complicit Obama lackey, and Clinton bitter clinger who fell for the Trump-Russia collusion fairy tale. It wasn’t just every Democratic lawmaker and candidate—and a good chunk of the establishment Republican elite—who peddled a bogus story for two years. It wasn’t just every Hollywood actress, producer, legend, fluffer, has-been and late night host who caterwauled for months about Trump’s treachery.

You did it, too, my fellow citizen.

For two years, you helped do the dirty work of the vanquished Hillary Clinton campaign and the sore-loser Democratic Party. You reposted memes on your Facebook and Instagram pages that depicted Donald Trump as a Putin puppet, even suggesting tongue-in-cheek (in a way that you’d call homophobic if the other side did it) that Trump was Putin’s gay lover. You warned your neighbors that Trump’s son was a traitor. You insisted to your co-workers that, yes, Trump’s campaign team was populated by Russian agents and that the president’s attorney general, his secretary of state, his education secretary, his national security advisor, his son-in-law—among others—were Kremlin plants in the new administration.

You swooned over Adam Schiff. You suddenly believed every word of faux conservatives such as Bill Kristol and David Frum and Max Boot; people you had held in contempt prior to the 2016 election. You retweeted every post by the Krassenstein brothers, Kathy Griffin, and Alyssa Milano.

Details and evidence were of no concern to you. You believed all of the following things for no reason other than that you wanted to. Trump told the Russians to hack Hillary Clinton’s emails before the election. (He didn’t.) Donald Trump Jr. colluded with Russia when he met in June 2016 for 20 minutes with a Russian lawyer in Trump Tower. (The meeting was a setup between Russian lobbyists working with Glenn Simpson, the head of Fusion GPS which produced the dossier, and Trump’s campaign team. No “dirt” on Hillary Clinton was passed along.)

Mike Flynn promised the Russian ambassador that Trump would drop sanctions against Russia. (No such promise was made.) President Trump told James Comey to drop the investigation into Flynn. (The only evidence that Trump suggested such a thing is Comey’s own memo; Trump was unaware of the investigation into his campaign at the time.)

And so on.

But the most compelling evidence that you refused to accept was right before your very eyes the entire time. In nearly two years, Mueller did not charge one person with so-called “collusion.” Not one associate tied to the Trump campaign was indicted or convicted of any crime related to the election.

And these delusional fantasists aren’t done yet: their abominable political leaders are now demanding the release of the Mueller report entire, along with Trump’s tax returns (both of which would be, y’know, illegal), hoping against shattered hope from the pit of bitter despair that there must be—MUST BE!!!—some obscure hook in there to hang Trump from at last.

Unfortunately for them, their unhinged assertion that AG Barr’s summary was part of a “coverup” intended to whitewash the crimes they just KNOW were committed is easily dispensed with. If it were anywhere close to true, Mueller would have been on every Sunday morning news show that would have him (ie, all of them) the weekend after its low-key, almost shamefaced late-Friday excretion to denounce the Barr summary as fraudulent or in error.

Ooops—he didn’t. On the contrary: he’s been quiet as a church mouse ever since, failing to offer the meekest peep even as the Right was joyously harpooning Team Collusion Delusion in celebration. Kelly closes thusly:

History will not be kind to the Trump-Russia collusion truthers in Congress, the expert class, Hollywood, and the media. But history also shouldn’t forget the role that you, Citizen Collusion Truther, played in this.

Absolutely. The utmost maximum of damage, real damage, must be inflicted on every malevolent shitweasel involved, pour encourage les autres. Such a selective memory lapse makes it inevitable that the same thing, or probably much worse, will happen again.

Meanwhile, Spengler has a fantastic suggestion for bringing the Deep State up short—one I endorse without qualm, quibble, or demur:

Why did the Deep State throw caution to the winds in an desperate effort to frame Donald Trump for alleged collusion with Russia–and failing that, to entrap him in an obstruction of justice case? There are a lot of reasons for the Establishment to hate Donald Trump, but one of them stands out. During the campaign, Donald Trump denounced the Obama administration for having created ISIS. That claim drew ridicule from the mainstream media, but it is entirely correct. Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, Trump’s campaign adviser, was head of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2012 when the DIA blew the whistle on CIA backing for Sunni Islamists fighting the Assad regime during the then-raging Syrian civil war. As my friend Michael Ledeenwrote at PJ Media on March 26, the Mueller investigation was all about Flynn.

President Trump should pardon Gen. Flynn right now and summon him back to Washington. Mueller forced Flynn to plead guilty to an invented charge of lying to FBI agents, even though the FBI agents who interviewed him about Russian contacts said that they thought he was telling the truth. Now that the Mueller investigation has come up with nothing, the frame-up of Gen. Flynn appears all the more heinous. The Deep State feared Mike Flynn, with good reason. Trump should reappoint him to a top job, and really terrify his opponents.

Flynn’s Defense Intelligence Agency produced a now-notorious 2012 report warning that CIA backing for Sunni rebels fighting Assad would lead to the rise of a new Caliphate movement, namely ISIS. The Obama administration threw its support behind the “Arab Spring” rebellion in Syria, ignoring the fact that Islamist terrorists led the opposition to Assad. This was reported exhaustively in specialist media, for example, Brad Hoff’s July 2016 essay in Foreign Policy Journal: Flynn humiliated the bungling CIA and exposed the incompetence and deception of the Obama administration, and got fired for it.

If the proper authorities turn over the CIA’s rock and examine its underside, the result will be the exposure of an intelligence failure of galactic proportions. The CIA channeled Saudi money into al-Qaeda fronts in Syria and helped move a large part of the late Col. Qaddafi’s massive arsenal to Syria. The jihadists backed by the CIA eventually formed a good deal of ISIS. Heads would roll at CIA. And when I say “proper authorities,” I mean Gen. Flynn in his capacity as National Security Adviser, a job in which he lasted a month before the Deep State set him up and persuaded President Trump to fire him.

Flynn was the only head of a major U.S. intelligence agency who knew just how badly the CIA had bungled, who had done what to whom, and where the bodies were buried. He was the broom with which Trump proposed to clean house. I am convinced that the Deep State put the finger on Flynn and tried to frame Trump, in the belief that the best defense is a good offense.

It’s time to seize the offensive from the Deep State and hold it accountable for its incompetence and its abuses of power, and that means a pardon for Mike Flynn.

Yes indeedy. Actually, Trump should pardon ALL of his people maliciously imprisoned for specious process crimes solely as a means of coercing them into “cooperating” with the Mueller failed coup attempt. He should do so immediately, and he should dismiss the Democrat-Socialist eruption of fury and OUTRAGE!™ that will surely ensue with all the contempt he can possibly muster. If he doesn’t and stands aside while these men are marched off to prison for no crime other than working for Team Trump, it would amount to an affront to both loyalty and justice so greivous as to make even me balk at continuing to support him.

Well, except for the treacherous lowlife Cohen, that is. Him, they can hang or stand up against a wall for all I care.

Update! Brennan: mastermind or moron?

John Brennan, folks, I do believe was the centerpiece of this. He was Obama’s CIA director. The most amazing thing, if you go back — and there are montages we put together, any number of people have put together of all the 1,000 percent certitude statements that Trump was going down, that Trump had colluded, that Trump was an agent, that Trump was a puppet, that Trump was under the influence of Putin and the KGB.

John Brennan’s saying all of this for at least two years. And even a week before the Mueller report comes out he’s assuring everybody that there are gonna be final indictments of Trump’s family and so forth, and he was saying this with literal certainty.

Now, the question is, was he just making this up? Don’t laugh. Stick with me here. Was he just making this up because he knew what the objective was and he was on the team of people trying to pull it off and he knew what they were gonna do no matter what the evidence said? Or was he being lied to by people who were furnishing him information?

Now, if he was being lied to, ’cause my point is that the special counsel’s office had been leaking like a sieve throughout even though the public has been told that we haven’t heard a word from Mueller, Mueller is the integrity of process, not saying a word, appearing anywhere, blah, blah, blah, blah. People in that office, somebody in there had to be telling Brennan something.

Somebody was lying to John Brennan for two years. Somebody that he trusted. He is the former CIA director, and he got scammed and played by somebody, or a series of somebodies, for at least two years. It’s either that or he never knew anything, was so confident that his team was gonna come up with something to get rid of Trump that he put it out there without knowing for certain what they had or didn’t have.

Which of those two seems the more palatable to you? That somebody that he trusted was lying to him day in and day out and that he believed it. Or, that he was so convinced because he knew everybody on this intel team that was looking for different on Trump, he just knew they were gonna come up with something because he just knows what a rotten guy Trump is because I think Brennan has personal hatred for Trump beyond which we can even imagine.

The point is he could not have been more wrong, and he’s the former CIA director. So was he set up? And by whom? I could go either way on this. I could be made to believe either of the scenarios I offered.

I have a third option to propose: that Mueller WAS the shadowy eminence grise skulking about behind the other Koup Klux Klowns’ hapless boobery, the primary organizer of the whole sordid clusterfuck. But remember what I’ve always maintained about Ogabe: cunning does NOT preclude either stupidity or incompetence. Remember, too, that it was Ogabe who appointed him as CIA chief. That’s a surefire indication of incompetence all by itself, no matter who we’re talking about.

The Mueller “investigation” was a hurry-up op laid on by a passel of half-assed, bungling slimeballs desperate to cover up their equally hamfisted attempt to rig the 2016 election as, to quote the utterly contemptible Smirky Strook, an “insurance policy” in case Trump won. Ogabe and his clueless cabal have tripped over their own big clumsy clown shoes time and again: Benghazi, Fast & Furious, the Russia “reset,” Her Herness’s illegal tinkertoy server and the ludicrous wiping of same “what, you mean with a cloth”?, the disastrous removal of Ghadafy, etc. So why on earth would anybody assume competence from them this time?

On rare occasions we should actually feel grateful that the schlubs infesting the halls of FederalGovCo are indeed such dimwits, such complete mediocrities. If they weren’t, this latest brazen attempt to subvert representative democracy might well have succeeded. Thanks to the myriad deficiencies of the federal Keystone Cops, it didn’t.

This time.
