Nobody ever won by losing

Spinning Tuesday’s defeat by claiming that the restoration of the Democrat Socialist Insane Left to power, as some on our side are now doing, is somehow…well, if not a victory exactly, at least kind of a good thing?

Really? REALLY?

Sorry, guys, not seeing it here. Okay, I understand that keeping your chin up and trying to find the silver lining (if any) is generally a good and honorable thing. I get that, I really do. I even respect it; maintaining one’s dignity in the face of adversity and not whining like a little bitch—or a defeated Democrat Socialist—is also a good policy to follow, no matter what.

But let’s not kid ourselves here either: the loss of the House, along with seven governorships, is a serious blow. It’s going to cost the nation heavily, make no mistake. And gaining a couple or three in the Senate is pitiful compensation, although admittedly not nothing either.

The phrase I’m not seeing many of the sunny-side-up folks using is: lame duck. Like it or not, that’s what President Trump now is. He was always embattled, right from the very start. Now he’s hemmed in on all sides, in a seriously tough spot, way worse than before, with his room to maneuver greatly lessened. There will certainly be no second round of pump-priming tax cuts now; the gains made in restoring manufacturing and loosening the regulatory state’s stranglehold on the American economy can easily be undone by a House eager to cut off growth and prosperity. Yes, there are limits on the damage the Democrat Socialist House can do right enough. The Senate will have to go along with most of it, and there’s always the Presidential veto power too.

Trump better be prepared to use it, because he’s going to need to, and often—very likely more than any previous President ever has, in fact—if he wants to keep his nascent economic recovery humming and thrumming along.

Which, if there IS a bright side to this debacle, that’s it: Trump remains a cantankerous sort, a real fighter who relishes a down and dirty brawl, and excels at coming out on top even when facing truly daunting odds. For all the NeverTrumpTard harrumphing about his supposed lack of character, whatever hope remains is riding exclusively on that character now. He’s already showing his mettle, bless his heart. Example One: booting Jeff Sessions’ worthless ass. Example Two, even more delicious: booting Jim Acosta’s worthless ass, too.

The White House suspended press access for Jim Acosta on Wednesday after the CNN reporter had a tense exchange with President Trump during a press conference.

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement that the administration will “never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman” — referring to a tussle for the microphone between Acosta and a White House intern.

“This conduct is absolutely unacceptable,” Sanders said in a statement.

“The fact that CNN is proud of the way their employee behaved is not only disgusting, it‘s an example of their outrageous disregard for everyone, including young women, who work in this Administration.”

Michael Goodwin has the right of it:

The conduct of a handful of so-called reporters during President Trump’s news conference was disgraceful beyond measure. This is not journalism, this is narcissism.

Actually, it’s a good bit worse than just narcissism, and it’s typical of a lot more than any “handful” of them too. I said long ago that Trump ought to toss the lot of the DC Enemedia out and simply refuse to grant them any access at all except under terms and conditions he sets, subject to revocation of even that should they put on another outrageous show of overt partisanship and disrespect like they did yesterday.

But it’s the reason behind their despicable conduct that’s the real problem here: they smell blood in the water after Tuesday’s disaster, just as Pelosi, Waters, Nadler, and the rest of the Leftard freak show do. If the Sunshine Boys on the nominal Right don’t know a defeat when they see one, the Democrat Socialist sharks surely do.

Hey, anybody remember when the Democrat Socialists were going to be taught a hard but vital lesson over the overturning of the fundamental principle of “innocent until proven guilty,” their contempt for decorum, responsible adult behavior, and the rule of law itself in the attempted lynching of Kavanaugh? Remember when that whole shitshow apparently “backfired” on them, and there would surely be a price paid for their despicable skullduggery, their brazen and intentional reduction of the Senate’s advise-and-consent function to a grotesque circus?

Guess not. But at least we know what we can expect to be standard procedure from now on, don’t we?

There’s another be-of-good-cheer argument being made here and there that I don’t quite get either, which basically goes like this: the Democrat Socialists won’t be able to help themselves and will overreach with unceasing investigations, subpoenas, and general harrassment of Trump. Simultaneously Waters, Pelosi, Schumer et al will be either unable or uninterested in restraining the lunacy of their foaming-at-the-mouth base, whose violence, confrontational sexual depravity, and overt hatred for this country, its mainstream citizens, and everything they and it represent will be exposed to Normals. The renewed push for eternal Democrat-Socialist wish-list items like open borders, gun control, tax hikes, and such, along with the rest of it, will combine to repel Real Americans. Thereby Trump’s re-election and the retaking of the House will be guaranteed.

To which I have to ask: normal Americans haven’t seen enough of that already? The Left was being subtle about it up until now? There was some way Normals could possibly have missed it, that they didn’t know? Maybe they pulled the lever for America’s version of the Raving Monster Loony Party by mistake or something? How much more of a demonstration can they possibly NEED?

Sorry guys, can’t see it. The American voter knew all of it full well, and enough of them went for the reprobates, grifters, liars, and freaks anyway to give them a win they in no way deserved—a meaningful win, not a trifling or insignificant one—one that’s going to have grave repercussions for this nation no matter how hard we try to plaster it over with smiley face stickers and feeble rationalization.

Comparisons with previous midterms, too, might be soothing to some. But that very idea is what frustrates me maybe more than anything: with Trump’s election and stunning success, it seemed that a long-overdue awakening had occurred among enough of us to solidify a new political reality for the longer term. The old paradigms had been overturned, a brand-new day had dawned at last. Finally, the monumental task of upending the malificent Deep State and repairing the destruction it had wrought could begin. With the Left’s maleficence fully exposed, there would be no turning back to the Old Order, no further need for indulgence of its deceits.

Alas, it seems plain now that those were hopeful assumptions on my part, at best premature if not outright baseless. I’m forced to reluctantly resume my longstanding previous position: that, a moment’s reprieve notwithstanding, what we’re engaged in here is still a rear-guard action, a fighting retreat, and not a bold, against-the-odds offensive. America That Was is still in the rearview, and looks further away than ever. Which isn’t to say that rear-guard actions aren’t worth the effort, or that there’s no honor in fighting them. No opportunity to unexpectedly whirl on the enemy and bloody his nose should be passed up; defiance of a hateful, contemptible foe is worthwhile for its own sake, the eventual outcome be damned. But we probably shouldn’t deceive ourselves into thinking it’s any more than it really is.

No, of course it ain’t the end of the world. We’re all fortunate enough to live in a country stable and prosperous enough that half of us can ignore politics entirely and get along just fine without engaging politically in any way. As they say, there’s a lot of ruin in a nation, and this one way more than the average.

Still, there’s no way around it: this past Tuesday, Americans had a chance to vote in favor of reinforcing and expanding a nascent national restoration. Too many of us chose to revert to decline and futility instead. And so now we get to put up with this shit again:

Sorry for the gloom and all, gang, but I just can’t find anything whatsoever to like about that.

Update! The solution, you ask? Ultimately, there ain’t but one: eliminating the Left’s iron grip on the American education system. As has been said here many times, all our problems begin there; the Left would never have been able to glom the power it has without the success of their Long March Through The Institutions. How the hell we’ll do it I’m sure I don’t know. But we’d better find a way, and fast.

  1. Too right, Mike.
Glen Reynolds warned conservative not to get cocky.
And as usual, defeat was snatched from the jaws of victory.
As usual, conservatives just couldn’t be bothered to get out and vote.
As usual, leftists get up to their tried and true techniques of busing voters to the polls. Say what you will, but the democrat machine has been doing this for a very long time. And are very good at it. And very good at fraud. See Arizona & Florida, as I type.
Conservatives are their own worst enemy.
Goldberg, Kristol, radioless Tom. Nevertrumpers to the core ’cause “muh principals”. Shapiro stared to come around, but too little, too late. Quislings like that have influence. But their desire to get invited to glitzy upper east side and DC cocktail parties outweighed the wish for a U.S. restored to a Shining City on the Hill.
Leftists are after power. And they mean it. And they will happily see blacks, hispanics, and just the general blue collar working class citizen suffering to get there.

  2. Pig hunting season may be about to open.

And Pittsburgh will soon come to towns across this country.

  3. Swine-like traitors such as Paul Ryan, the voters of Wisconsin and the neocon Republiscammers who made and kept Ryan as Speaker, ALL deserve a short rope and a tall tree !

  4. Doom and gloom? Not hardly! This is certainly the last election that “conservatives” will be competitive in. Florida and Georgia shouldn’t have been close. Instead we are looking at possible communist victories in both states due to fraud. Rick Scott has some skin in the game so he is at least fighting back. Scott stepped on his dick when he signed the knee jerk gun control bills after Parkland. Paul Ryan is responsible for the loss of the House. He is worse than useless! He thwarted President Trump’s agenda at every opportunity. Going forward, it’s only going to get worse. Look for Trump to lose FL, GA, NC, and AZ in ’20 because of demographics. My prediction(not that anyone gives a shit) is that Trump is the last Pubbie president we will ever see. Now there’s some doom and gloom!

    1. It will soon be like California in some districts. There are only democommunists on the ballot. Vote for whomever you like but your vote is for them. Or don’t vote, we don’t care. You still voted for them by default. They win either way. That is the future. There was never an election that was so clear and so important to the American people, and we lost. We are about to lose even more when the 10-15 recounts are done. I have never seen a recount favor a Republican either. And it’s amazing that they can always discover 10-20,000 missing ballots in the recount districts. Khrushchev was right. “We will bury you.”

  5. The solution, you ask? Ultimately, there ain’t but one: eliminating the Left.

Everything after the apostrophe was extraneous.

  6. If we have learned anything in the last decade, it’s that laws are only as good as their enforcement. It’s painfully obvious that the Dems are stealing the elections in Florida and Arizona – and the Republican for Senate is the goddamn GOVERNOR! And what is being done about it? Nada. Democrats send a platoon of lawyers to the state to ‘win the election,’ and what does our side do about it? Jack and shit, that’s what. Because Muh Principles. Antifa bastards go after Carlson’s wife and kids – and fucking stay there till they get bored. And what is done? NOTHING. No cops. No right-side force to oppose them. Because Muh Principles and we don’t want to sink to their level and other bullshit reasons. They commit crimes, look us in the eye, and say, “Whatcha gonna do about it?” And we walk away wringing our hands and muttering about true conservatism.

What should we do? EVERYTHING. Fuck it – let’s be the racist sexist bigoted totalitarians that they say we are. It’s not like they can get any worse on us. Wage scorched earth lawfare from the Justice Department and the new AG. Let’s have a force to counter Antifa – Bikers for Trump might work nicely. When the Antifa bastards show up to harass one of ours, a group text goes out to BFT, and our guys show up to do business. Take care of things, hose off the blood, and then leave. Any Democrat official or bureaucrat who does anything more than jaywalking, prosecute them Federally and don’t put them in a minimum security Club Fed. Put them in Leavenworth with Thunderdick as their cellmate.

No, it won’t happen, unfortunately. But we are taking more steps toward the Second American Revolution, I’m afraid.

    1. It could happen and should. Each one of us, and there are millions, and we are scattered all over, could cover five commies easily. We live down the street from them, or work with them, or at the very least know who they are and can find more about them and where they live in our city and what their habits are. We have the time to do this very carefully. When the time is right that goal is met and we move to the next.
Just think of the impact it will make that during a past year a million of us actually were able to get our five goals. Five million commies disconnected? Some prominent, some not, but all are gone and no one can figure out how or by who. If anyone of our team were to be discovered, maybe they could hope to have their families looked after by a go-fund-me account.

But the truth of the matter is, that as the movement builds, more will join, until the group becomes so powerful that the goals can be taken outright, boldly and in public, and no law dog or fedgov agent does anything. It will remain leaderless, a headless snake, or better a snake with a million heads. Anyone claiming to be the movement leader will meet the same fate as any commie goal.

    1. i like that you have a plan instead of just bitching. We’re going to need the likes of you because it’s about to get dicey.

  8. I did what I could, picked up my cane and hobbled across the street to the polls, voted Ted Cruz back in and as a bonus I got me a new congresscritter. Dan Crenshaw. All my neighbor’s lawns are now being watered with liberal tears, and I’m doing Snoopy’s Happy Dance, which tell you the truth at my age ain’t so easy. Never cared that much for Ted Poe. He was a showoff as a judge, and put water in his whiskey.

  9. Damn thing at the bottom of the page asked me to prove I’m not a robot, so what’s 9 plus 7. 4 squared? 2 to the power of 4? It’s a bitch to try to speak computer to a computer wondering if I’m really the ghost of Alan Turing.

    1. JC, man, I HATE those damned things! I very seldom comment on other blogs–hell, except for one or two exceptions I hardly even have time to read most blogs’ comment sections these days–but twice this week I’ve tried to post something over at Aesop’s joint and couldn’t get past the gott-dang Recaptcha. With one of them, I was on my cell, and the pictures demanding I identify the ones with bicycles in ’em were so blurry and screwed up I couldn’t tell what the HELL was in ’em. Wasn’t my phone, I have a quite good new one, with a six-inch screen. You could claim it was my tired, aging eyes that were my undoing, but I will deny it even if it’s true. A-HEHN.

As a blogger myself, I do understand the need to keep the spammers and scammers locked out to whatever degree you can. But Recaptcha seems to have gotten way more annoying of late. I used to use the plugin for CF, but deactivated it a while back. For anyone who might be interested, there’s an excellent WP plugin out there called Stop Spammers that I installed after the last redesign which seems to work really well. Just now and then some porn-spammer will find a way past it and I’ll have to fumigate the place, but that’s gotten to be pretty rare.

  10. Well, looks like it’s back to buying freeze died food and adding to my ammo store.

  11. People on the right talk too much among themselves and so believe their own spin. The Kavenaugh hearings appalled us, and rightly so, and so we thought surely everyone else reacted the same way. We don’t want to believe most people still swallow the leftist swill they are fed without reflection or introspection, so we assume they don’t. Well guess what? They do. And with the media cheerleading backing up all the new House investigations, how many out there are going to be appalled when they’re told the should stand up and cheer? Especially when there will be more than a few virtue-signalling Republicans who will sign on to be the media’s McCain for a day?

What we need is a Republican party that consists of a legion of Trumps, who never back down, never give an inch, and dispute every single point of journalists’ dogma right at the moment it comes out of their mouths. Actually, Trump isn’t nearly good enough at this himself. He’s just the best we’ve ever seen, and such a departure from the norm that we think it’s fantastic. We need a Republican House minority that will use every tactic they have at their disposal to disrupt and expose the Democrats’ plan. What we have seen from Republicans in my near 60 years on this planet has never been up to the task of halting the left, or even slowing them down.

  12. I am sorry about this election. The GOP lost by running many of the usual establishment RINOs. Worse what could the GOP Congress boast of? Spending like Demorats, building the wall, ending Obamacare?

They attacked Trump rather than the Demorats. So now they are in the minority. What a surprise given that there is no voter fraud-something Ryan embraced and did nothing to halt. How about temporary tax cuts followed by permanent elimination of deductions. Think these tax breaks will become permanent? As we see illegals flooding in and the Dems giving them free airfares how long before we are Mexico? How long before there are veiled women in your community and a mosque near you? How long before there are Black Panthers who are armed outside of a polling place?

How long before the fact you did not vote for a Demorat is outed and you lose your job? What did the GOP do to halt the Antifa thugs? What did they do to stop sanctuary cities, counties and states?

When Ted Cruz almost gets beat, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi are in turmoil its hard to see the upside. Worse how did the GOP lose so many winnable races. I saw the GOP ignore its candidate in Virginia as it did elsewhere because they weren’t country club, Ivy Leaguers.

Arizona voted for a communist nutjob. NY had 7 congressional seats without a GOP candidate, PA had 6. Tell me who is to blame for this.

  13. Correctomund, compadre. When the Nazis were dealing with the communists in the 1930’s, they kicked butt. The result: the Communist Party was eliminated as a political force.

But as usual in history, roles have been reversed. Now it’s Antifa that kicks butt (or tries to), condoned by law enforcement. (Do a search with these keywords: “San Jose, 2016, antifa, lawsuit, cops.”)

The police maliciously funneled an Antifa gang straight into a group of peaceful Trump supporters that were dispersing. Anyone unfamiliar with that episode will get their eyes opened, STAT.)

They call us Nazis — and the media is complicit. We’re not Nazis, they are! But they have Joe Public believing what is no more than simple projection by Antifa.

We should always reject their characterization — but it’s time to stop curling our pinky fingers and pretending we’re having tea and crumpets. It’s time we tell them, “Bring it on!”

We need to show the ‘news’ folks we’re on to them, too: Big Media is the friggin’ ENEMY!

Why should their honchos get a free pass to eat in fancy restaurants, without ever being bothered? Why should those a-hoes never need to worry about repercussions? A little anal puckering would do wonders on their attitude adjustment therapy.
