Take that, po’ white trash!

Whatever you do, just don’t call them elitists, ‘kay? They HATE when you do that.

National Review’s Kevin Williamson believes Donald Trump’s appeals to the white working class are “immoral” because that demographic’s way of life deserves to die out.

In a featured article for the prestigious conservative journal entitled “The Father-Fuhrer,” Williamson seeks to rebut criticism that he and other conservatives don’t articulate any policies that would appeal to Trump’s blue collar supporters.

Williamson, a long-time critic of The Donald, essentially agrees that he doesn’t support any policies or rhetoric directly tailored to the working-class — particularly about jobs being taken by outsourcing and immigration — because it would be wrong to do so.

“It is immoral because it perpetuates a lie: that the white working class that finds itself attracted to Trump has been victimized by outside forces,” the NR roving correspondent writes. “[N]obody did this to them. They failed themselves.”

He then goes on to state that all the ills associated with downscale whites are a result of that class’s inherent depravity.

“If you spend time in hardscrabble, white upstate New York, or eastern Kentucky, or my own native West Texas, and you take an honest look at the welfare dependency, the drug and alcohol addiction, the family anarchy—which is to say, the whelping of human children with all the respect and wisdom of a stray dog—you will come to an awful realization. It wasn’t Beijing. It wasn’t even Washington, as bad as Washington can be. It wasn’t immigrants from Mexico, excessive and problematic as our current immigration levels are. It wasn’t any of that,” Williamson state.

He then goes on to make the conclusion that it’s great these communities are dying out because they have a warped morality and are a dead weight on the economy.

Wow. Just…wow. More:

Detroit represents nothing less than progressivism in its final stage of decadence: Worried that unionized public-sector workers are looting your city? Detroit is already bankrupt, unable to provide basic services expected of it — half the streetlights don’t work, transit has been reduced, neighborhoods go unpatrolled. Worried that public-sector unions are ruining your schools? Detroit’s were ruined a generation or more ago, the results of which are everywhere to be seen in the city. Worried that Obamacare is going to ruin our health-care markets? General-practice physicians are hard to find in Detroit, and those willing to accept Medicaid — which covers a great swath of Detroit’s population — are rarer still. Worried about the permissive culture? Four out of five of Detroit’s children are born out of wedlock. Worried that government is making it difficult for businesses to thrive? Many people in Detroit have to travel miles to find a grocery store. This is the endgame of welfare economics: What good is Medicaid if there are no doctors? What good are food stamps where there is no food? What good are “free” schools if you’re so afraid to send your children there that you feel it prudent to arm them first?

Detroit is what Democrats do. The last Republican elected mayor of Detroit took office during the Eisenhower administration. The decay of Detroit is not the inevitable outcome of the decline of the automotive industry: The automotive industry is thriving in the United States — but not in Detroit. It isn’t white flight: The black middle class has left Detroit as fast as it can. The model of Detroit politics is startlingly familiar in its fundamentals, distinguished only by its degree of advancement: Advance the interests of public-sector unions and politically connected business cronies, expand the relative size of the public sector remorselessly — and when opposed, cry “Racism!” When people vote with their feet, cry “Racism!” When the budget just won’t balance, cry “Racism!” Never mind that the current mayor of Detroit is the first non–African American to hold that job since the 1970s, or that, as one Detroit News columnist put it, “black nationalism . . . is now the dominant ideology of the [city] council” — somewhere, there must be a somebody else to blame, preferably: aged, portly, white, male, and Republican. No less a fool than Ed Schultz blamed the straits of this exemplar of Democratic single-party rule on “a lot of Republican policies.” Melissa Harris-Perry, “America’s leading public intellectual,” blames Detroit’s problems on its conservatism and small government, oblivious to the fact that Detroit maintains twice as many city employees per resident as do larger cities such as Fort Worth and Indianapolis, and three times as many as liberal San Jose.

Oh wait, sorry; that’s from a different article–a very different article indeed. I’ll leave it to you folks to draw your own conclusions about how to square the two. I’ll just note how very strange it is to see that TDS is marked by some of the exact same symptoms as the old BDS used to be, only they’re far more highly developed and acute. Probably every bit as untreatable, too.

Update! Our ol’ bud Mare on TDS and where it leaves us:

Before the Chicago TDS riot, I could have voted for any of them if they were the GOP nominee (even though the Canadian renders himself less likable every time he starts speechifying in either lawyer talk or preacher speak) but now, after the way these dummies pandered to the hostile jackasses who’ve been fucking shit up for normal people for years with impunity, screw them. They leave me little doubt that they’d be about as effective as Cryin’ John Boehner and Milquetoast Mittens Romney were in opposing anti-American hostile jackasses and their destructive agenda if given the opportunity to hold our nation’s highest office. They are buckling to the slightest breezes blowing from the left through the corrupt media, how could they possibly stand strong against leaders of regions of the world that have declared themselves our mortal enemies?

Am I supposed to infect myself with a rabid strain of TDS because acolytes of the Canadian and the ManBoyRobot say that Donald Trump is not conservative? Yeah, fuck that noise, they can take their mealy mouthed hand wringing panty waisted brand of “conservatism” and shove it.

As Ironbear said: for such Severe Conservatives, they sure ain’t managed to conserve much. But I’m long past believing that’s any kind of coincidence.

  1. Thanks for the link, Mike!

As a person living in a working class community in upstate New York who Kevin Williamson thinks should DIE, I say he should go first and then he can go to hell. Williamson is a clueless bigot. People work their asses off around here to support their families and it has gotten harder to do and more frustrating when people find out how much BS their tax dollars get wasted on, such as the foreign invaders who keep black & white teens from being able to get summer jobs mowing lawns.
