The workings of the Nanny-stater mind

April 11th, 2012

Stupid, self-contradictory, self-defeating, insipid, obsessive, devoid of logic and reason. I’d say that about sums it up.

This was a weekend for giving thanks to God. But we cannot rely on prayer to protect our police officers and keep our city safe.

The work of Ray Kelly and the NYPD has made New York City the safest big city in the country. Crime is down 35% over the past decade, and murders are at historic lows. But as our officers put their lives on the line to take guns off the street, they are getting no support from Washington – with terrible consequences.

Over the past four months, we have had eight police officers shot in the line of duty. One of them, Peter Figoski, did not survive.

Every one of the criminals who has shot at our police officers possessed his gun illegally. Every one. And make no mistake: It will happen again — and again — until those in Washington stop cowering before the gun lobby.

I’ll let Doug Powers dismantle that one:

He destroys his own argument in a single sentence. “Problem: Criminals shooting at police officers. Solution: Keeping guns out of the hands of people who don’t shoot at police officers.”

Would Bloomberg be happier if the people who shot at cops possessed their guns legally? At least then his argument might make at least a modicum of sense.

The only thing that ever makes sense to dimestore dictators like him is more power and control. For him, and nobody else. I’d remind Bloomberg that the “gun lobby” actually consists of the representatives of millions of law-abiding, gun-owning Americans who have the outrageous temerity to take their 2nd Amendment rights seriously, but no aspect of that statement would cut any ice whatsoever with the braying jackass.

The human brain evolved over 1 million years to better locate and collect fruit. It makes associations like "Tree with big leaves, more fruit". It is very good at that.

Liberal brains associate "Many deaths, often guns". After another few hundred thousand years they may improve. Things take time. Be thankful that we are allowed to drive automobiles, until they ban gasoline.

It is simple: " when guns are outlawed, only oulaws will have guns". That says it all. Bloomburg even basically agrees, then says we should outlaw guns. These people are seriously mental midgets....

Killing an other humam has been against Hummarbi (5,000 years). It being unlawful did not stop the killing. Would it make us all "feel"better if the killings were done with different implements? If it would then there is no sense speaking to you as you are insane. Laws against objects only prevent law abiding citizens from having them. If you are a convicted felon you are not allowed to own firearms, think how well this is working out. Regardless of what the law mat state you will never keep those inclined to break the law from doing it. Punishing the innocent will not change that fact. They do not wish to protect people as they wish toi make it easier to control them.
