Rise…and fall

Trump is slowly fading away, looks like, which is a-okay with me. But that doesn’t mean he served no useful purpose at all, as Treacher explains:

Well, yeah. He’s Donald Trump. He’s not the kind of guy you like more as time goes by.

That said, I give Trump credit for showing just how easy it is to get inside Barack’s head. Our dear leader was so offended by Trump’s constant criticism that he gave in on the birth certificate. This pulled the rug out from under Trump and all the other Birthers — hey, wow, providing information actually informs people! — but also revealed how petty and hypersensitive Barack really is. Then he used the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to attack yet another private citizen who had dared to displease him, to the delight of his lickspittles in the media (including party apparatchik Seth Meyers). Wow, he showed up a reality-TV clown with 17 strands of hair going around his head like cotton candy. What a big win. What a responsible use of the office.

Trump will never be president, but he made Barack blink and brought him down to his level, if not lower. Like Sun Tzu said about sizing up an opponent: “Rouse him, and learn the principle of his activity or inactivity. Force him to reveal himself, so as to find out his vulnerable spots.” Trump certainly did that. Barack’s most vulnerable spot is the same as Trump’s, and every bit as big: his ego.

I seem to be saying this a lot today, but: bingo. Trump would have been a lousy President, although probably not as bad a one as Gutsy, and his fast fade-out was inevitable. But as I said before, he showed the way to get Gutsy: tora, tora, tora, relentlessly and remorselessly, on every possible front. Never give the bastard a chance to so much as draw breath. When he finally gives on one front, open another, until all that’s left of him is a sodden, bloody mess. Nothing else will ever work against such a narcissistic half-a-man with no integrity, no scruples, no decency, and no shame.

Will to power is all Gutsy has, and all he is. His essential smallness — his meretriciousness, his tawdry, grubby dishonesty — must be exposed. Deep down, Obama is really shallow, as the old joke goes. He has to be removed from his self-constructed pedestal and made ridiculous. There’s no gentlemanly way to do that; you don’t treat with him as if he were respectable or in any way a substantial opponent. He is neither of those things. He is a fraud, encouraged in sleazing and sliming his way to the top every step of the way because the Leftist cabal of 20 percenters saw him as a perfect front to advance their long-term agenda.

It must be admitted, he’s actually worked out quite well for them so far. Now all they need is for the rest of us to accept the bit. Trump didn’t, and demonstrated for the rest of us just how weak and easily spooked they really are. If the gutless Republicans would only build on that, we might stand a ghost of a chance against the revolutionary, anti-American Left and their tin god.

If only.
