WAS WASN’T HIS NAME
It must be primary season; McCain is trying to pretend he’s more conservative than he really is:
“I never considered myself a maverick,” he told me. “I consider myself a person who serves the people of Arizona to the best of his abilities.” Yet here was Palin, urging her fans four times in 15 minutes to send McCain the Maverick back to Washington…
He’s right; he’s no maverick–but she is.
All his so-called “maverick” stances are actually the same old tired, run-of-the-mill mediocre positions…of liberals! There’s absolutely nothing fresh, bold or daring about agreeing with Russ Feingold, Teddy Kennedy and Al Gore and The Conventional Washington Wisdom(tm).
On the other hand, Sarah Palin stood up to the crooks, good old boys and corporation men of both parties on behalf of Alaskans. And she’s standing with Tea Party People despite the scripted pre-smears and pre-crime pre-slanders pre-targeted at them by functionaries of the so-called “Party of the People”.
I don’t fault her for supporting him, though. Our party should be big enough for former presidential nominees and other moderates…as long as the conservative majority drives policy. On just a human level, it would also be ungrateful for Palin not to support him and ingratitude is unconservative, if not actual liberal policy.
McCain has actually been pretty good in opposition, but in the end, it’s up to Arizonans.
Just don’t make me vote for him again, okay?
