Thomas Sowell

That’s all you need to say. Those two words mean anything which follows will be full of either common sense, or clear truth. Like this:

The last thing the administration can risk is delay that could allow the market to begin recovering on its own. That would undermine, if not destroy, a golden opportunity to restructure the American economy in ways that would allow politicians to micromanage other sectors of the economy the way they have micromanaged the housing market into disaster.

And we should never waste a crisis, should we?

Oh, and if you’ve never read Sowell’s The Vision of the Anointed, buy it. Because you’re living it now. You might want to see how it ends.

  1. I think Sowell devoted an entire chapter in Basic Economics to the troubles inherent in central planning. Maybe we should buy copies for the White House fellows.

  2. So that’s why the bum’s rush on the Stinkulus. We’ve had many recessions before without a State Takeover.

I still remember the excitement I felt finding and reading “Vision of the Annointed” years ago–it was like finding a pearl in a chum bucket. Good, good stuff.
